I think this recipe is the whole reason I’m okay with staying in quarantine for 10 weeks.
Why go out for takeout when you can have all the wings you want at home???
These wings are seasoned with a slightly sweetened version of my All Purpose Seasoning and then baked, not fried. My family likes these over any wing they’ve had at a restaurant. Which is good, because an order of wings isn’t cheap these days and we always end up fighting over who gets the last one. Why don’t they plate wings evenly for a family of 4?
Okay, so here’s how it goes:
Pick up a couple packs of chicken wings when they go on sale (about 4 lbs if it’s your main dish). They sometimes have them already cut into what are called “party wings”, which is fancy-talk for charging you a lot more to cut the sections apart for you. But I’m frugal so I buy the whole wings and do a tiny bit of work myself. We call the sections drummies, flats, and tips; I save the tips in a freezer bag for stock and toss the drummies and flats into a large mixing bowl with some olive oil, seasoning, and a bit of brown sugar.
Toss ’em around to get them all coated and then arrange your wings on baking sheets. Prep the sheets with aluminum foil topped with a mist of cooking spray. The spray keeps the wings from sticking and the foil makes for super easy clean up.
Let another dusting of that All Purpose Seasoning rain down to make sure they’re super tasty. No one wants a bland wing.
Bake them for 45 minutes in a 400 degree oven. It sounds like a long time, but that’s how the magic of crispy skin and fall-off-the-bone goodness happens.
Plate them up with some cut veggies and your favorite dipping dressing – and you’re done!
Easy to prep, very little clean up, perfect for picnic-style dinner on the living room carpet with a family movie kind of night!
I would LOVE to know how big a hit these are in your house. When you make them, snap a pic and post it here or tag me in it on FB. I’d be willing to bet they’ll be your new family favorite!
